SS Mary & Mathias 3rd Grade

Welcome to third grade.

Third grade is a transitional year from learning to read to reading to learn.  It is a time of development of independence and creating life long learners.

Our classroom is based on the 5 R's -
*Respect - respecting ourselves, others and the world
*Responsibility-taking responsiblity for our own actions, choices and decisions
*Rights-understanding that we all have the right to a safe and comfortable learning enviornment
*Routine - establishing a routine the students can rely on, yet still be flexible
*Rules - following rules to keep everyone safe
.

Homework is a valuable tool which provides opportunities to apply learning and perform necessary practice. It develops student responsibility and accountability, creating work habits essential to life.

Homework subjects:
Reading - students are expected to read 20 minutes daily at home
Math - practice basic facts, we will focus on addition & subtration and move to multiplication & division.
Spelling - tests on Friday
Science/Social Studies - the textbooks are difficult and require study time before tests.
Students are given classroom time to work on assignments, however, if class time is not used wisely, assignments are sent home.
Students are expected to write assignments in their planners and bring them back with a parent signature.  I am committed to giving only meaningful assignments which enhance the learning process.

God's Blessings,

Mrs. Paca
